Seaway-Offshore Limited was formed in 2006 as a partnership between two principals; Sverker Hallstrom and Peter Thomas Bafitis. Seaway-Offshore Limited was formed with the primary goal of utilizing the company’s assets to work in the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry and the Underwater Salvage Industry. |
The company quickly moved to acquire two well-known DP-1 ROV support vessels, the M/V Seaway Rover and the M/V Seaway Invincible previously owned and operated by Stolt Offshore. |
Two work class 150 hp Scarab ROV systems were purchased from TYCO Sub-Sea Division for placement on board the DP-1 class vessels. The company also owns and operates several other ROV systems such as the Scorpi 620 - 2,000 meter system and the Sea Owl 450 meter ROV systems. |
Sverker Hallstrom has over 30 years of direct hands-on and management experience in offshore work, survey and salvage operations. Sverker has worked as a Civil Engineer and a Master Mariner before establishing a successful Singapore based business, Hallstrom Holdings Private Limited. The company developed an excellent reputation in the ROV Services Industry. Client companies included Brown & Root, BUE (British Underwater Engineering), EPMI (Esso Production Malaysia), Divcon, Fraser Diving, McDermott, 2W-Rockwater, Shell, Total, Unocal to name a few. |
Sverker Hallstrom then expanded into Underwater Salvage and has been very successful in the “Search and Salvage” of various well documented projects, most notably the recovery of 17th century blue & white Chinese porcelain” from the "Vung Tau Wreck" off of Vietnam in 1990 and the recovery of gold coins from the "Douro" off the NW coast of Spain in 1995. His wealth of experience, technical acumen and "hands on" management are at the core the company's human assets. The main focus of the Underwater Salvage element is now modern shipwrecks with Sverker having located and successfully salvaged a number of World War II commodity shipwrecks, containing both precious and non-ferrous metals. |
Peter Bafitis worked for over 25 years with the privately held, French-American global trading company, Louis Dreyfus, (with recent revenues of over 25 bln. usd annually). Peter held executive positions globally for Louis Dreyfus including New York, Paris, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Singapore and Wilton, CT. Mr. Bafitis retired in January, 2006 as a Senior VP, responsible for Global Strategic Trading and was one of five directors of the Executive Group managing Louis Dreyfus Commodities. |
